We Were Given Eternal life Because We DIDN'T Believe!?

Every story has a beginning, a middle, and an end. When we watch the Super Bowl, we all know when the game is over because the clock runs out and the winner is clear.

But when it comes to the Bible, the “game clock” isn’t so obvious. People have debated the timing of prophecy and “the end of the age” for centuries. Everyone agrees there’s an ending — but when does it actually happen?

That’s the question we dive into in this episode of The Hour We Least Expected.

The Biblical Clock and the End of the Age

Most Christians think of “the end of the age” as a future event — something still waiting to happen. But what if it already did?

What if the end of the age was the end of the Old Covenant, brought to completion at the cross and resurrection of Jesus?

That would mean that when Jesus cried, “It is finished,” He really meant it. The clock had run out. Judgment had taken place. And eternal life had already been revealed.

Why They Couldn’t Believe

Throughout the gospels, we see passages where people could not — and did not — believe in Him.

  • John 8:21–24

  • John 12:37–40

  • John 16:29–32

It wasn’t about whether their disbelief would condemn them in some far-off future. The timing was immediate: when Jesus died, those who didn’t believe died in their sins — and that included everyone.

As John 12:31–32 declares: “Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out. And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.”

Judgment and Mercy in One Moment

At the cross, the entire world was judged — and through that same act, the entire world was reconciled. Supporting passages like Romans 11:32, 2 Corinthians 5:14–19, and Ephesians 2:1–9 make it clear: Christ’s death was for all, and His resurrection revealed life for all.

The cross wasn’t just one more moment in biblical history. It was the moment — the hour that fulfilled prophecy, closed the Old Covenant, and opened the door to reconciliation for all humankind.

What If This Is True?

Whether you believe this perspective right now or not, it’s worth asking: What would your life look like if this is true?

For us, it has meant freedom from fear, clarity about God’s character, and joy in knowing His love is bigger than we ever imagined.

The Hour We Least Expected

This is the heart of our book: proving that the cross was the true end of the age — the moment when the clock ran out and eternal life was revealed through Christ’s finished work.

The gift of eternal life wasn’t a choice offered to some; it was an action Jesus completed for all. An action that cannot be undone, revoked, or nullified.

This changes everything.
